VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteers are an integral part of our organization. In 2019, we relied on a staff of 53 dedicated volunteers. Our volunteers contribute their time to help in lessons, caring for and exercising our horses, fundraising and special events, and much more. We have volunteers who dedicate a couple hours a month to the center to as much as over 40 hours a month. We appreciate any amount of time and skills you are able to contribute. Below is a list of our volunteer opportunities:
New volunteers are required complete an application form and attend a basic training, where they learn the fundamentals of therapeutic riding, specialized tack and equipment, horse care, CAR's history, and emergency procedures.
An annual return volunteer training is mandatory at the beginning of each year.

- Sidewalker - Walk next to the rider to provide support and ensure safety
- Leader - Responsible for grooming & tacking horse before the lesson and leading the horse during the lesson
- Grant Writing Committee - Assist with researching, writing, and editing grants/foundation/corporate requests
- Board Member - Act as a community ambassador for CAR
- Fundraising Committee - Assist in planning and implementing special events
- Equine Care Team - Clean paddocks and groom the horses
- Equine Management Team - Help with training, conditioning, and routine exercise of program horses (must have previous horse experience and pass evaluation by staff)
- Newsletter - Assist in creating quarterly newsletters by collecting stories & photos
