About the Horsemanship for Heroes Program

*  Provides hands-on experiences with horses allowing heroes to explore their struggles, discover their strengths and apply new behaviors. 

*  Equine Assisted Services are conducted in a non-threatening, experiential learning environment.

What is horsemanship for heroes?
Horsemanship for Heroes is a 10-week Equine Assisted Learning program that uses the human-horse bond to provide emotional, cognitive, social and physical benefits.
Who does horsemanship for heroes serve?
Horsemanship for Heroes is currently available to all Veterans and Active-Duty Service Members (including National Guard and Reserves).  It is our intention to widen our client base in the near future to members of the Police, Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services.
Where is Horsemanship for Heroes located?
Horsemanship for Heroes is located at the Center for Adaptive Riding.  The center is located at 915 Mapel Creek Court in southwest Reno, Nevada.
How much does horsemanship for heroes Cost?
There is no cost for service members and veterans.  
​DO I HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO RIDE A HORSE? DO I GET TO RIDE?
You do not have to know anything about horses or know how to ride.  The Horsemanship for Heroes program begins with eight weeks of foundational equestrian ground training.  The final two weeks include optional mounted sessions.

The Center for Adaptive Riding is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  We rely heavily on support from donors.
